Where the hell do you get off tracking his family member down when the police told you that they cannot legally give out the information??? I hope you get what you deserve. His family should not suffer for his actions.

Where the hell does this man, high risk to reoffend, get the right to wander freely among woman in any area!

If it were your daughter, sister etc. would you still want to put her at risk. It is too bad for his family, I agree, however the woman in the area take precedent!!

Seems more care is spent protecting assailants than victims!

I'm glad you tracked the one family member down. His face and address should be plastered everywhere. One day we will hear about this piece of garbage's next victim and we will wish we had done more...

How do you even know that the person with the same last name is a relative?  And that is where he is residing?  Very presumptuous of this reporter, and an invasion of privacy for the person who's only problem could be sharing a last name.  I am ashamed of our city news for this reporters actions.

This is really good that this news release was sent... We all have daughters, wives, sisters..... The law should FORCE these guys to go through an integration program whether or not they served a full sentence, they just owe this to society and we should insist on this!  Half way homes are a great way to start integration and treatment program!  This was really great reporting by Pamela VanMeer, too bad someone will snatch her from another larger TV station:)

I am a huge fan of Pamela and have no doubt that like the rest of us she has a boss who gives her an assignment but what on earth was the paper's objective in doing this? The picture, the background, the warning to the public I can understand but what was to be gained by sending a camera to, or even identifying(!), an apartment building that has a person with the same name. Thank God Pamela was not harmed but I feel sorry for the residents of that building that CHEX has terrorized. Put a photo in the lobby for goodness sake.

I cannot believe anonymous people posting angry comments about this reporting.. must be related or another X rapist! The reporters do their homework, do you think they would just knock at someones door for fun?  Silly, silly, silly!

Great reporting!!!  People must be made aware of these people intigrating back in society.

I for one love to walk the trails.  It's unfortunate that because of people like him my right to do so is limited.

Anyone who wishes to protect someone like that must be sick.

For those 'bleeding heart' folk, this twisted individual brutalized a woman in every way possible. While I agree that the family shouldn't be harassed, that is their problem. For starters, he should never be released IMO as he's proven himself a threat to women and society everywhere (as he burglarized many). However since Canadian laws are so backwards, we deserve to know where this man resides so that we can be wary and keep a watchful eye.

I'm sure if it was your daughter he raped and brutalized your opion would be different.  Maybe the next person he attacks will be you.  My hats off to the reporter for sharing with the public.

I just don't get how 5 years is a full sentence for brutal rape.

This person deserves a chance to reintegrate to normal society. He has reportedly ignored and declined every opportunity to engage in programs to ease his release and help reintegrate. He does deserve to be monitored due to this and as a sexual offender with a high probability for re-offence the community at large deserves to know where he lives, what he looks like and what the conditions of his release are.

I have people, my wife and female friends, who deserve to know that this person is in the community. This person had the opportunity to engage in therapy and support programs to assist him in becoming a better person and showing regret for his actions. He did not. I should not have to fear for my wife or my friends because of this person.

You hipe up on the fact that there is a X Con on the loose and you assume he is at our address you get the tenents of the building all in an panic and putting the blame on the Superentendents NICE lets get to the chase alright so we have a xcons / rapists on the loose sorry that is 15% TO 20% OF PETERBOROUGH and then you got the child didlers you don't even care for that right.

I live in this building and am very concerned.  Who guarantees that these conditions are adhered to?

I walk my dog through the trails that surround this building, sounds just like the woman who was brutally attacked.

I live with my Alzheimers Mom - who won't remember that I just told her not to answer the door to anyone.  Sad part is, she won't remember - who is protecting her?

Who is protecting me when I need to do laundry?  I need to ride the elevator - I do believe they might be safer than the stairwells.

Who is protecting us?  The woman and children living in this building?

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be answers...

Thanks for any other wonderful post. Where else may anyone get that kind of info in such an ideal approach of writing? I have a presentation subsequent week, and I’m on the search for such information.

To thank you. The mere fact that you wish that kind of brutality on another person is disgusting. All I am saying is that you shouldn't centre out the only person in the area that shares the same last name. What if they get backlash from this and don't even know that guy?? Every person in that building could be harassing them thinking that he lives there. I agree that the public should be alerted to offenders being in the area. However, hoping that hurtful things happen to other people is about as guilty as someone who assaults someone for no reason.

All persons walking trails or even alone should be aware of their surroundings. Not just women. I don't go out at night as it is to protect myself. If I am alone I am aware of where I am and surroundings. I don't live in fear. You can't control the actions of other people, and you can't let fear control you. Take back your neighborhood by being aware, and taking notice.
