Peterborough Lakefield Community Police briefs Sunday, Aug. 12
Motorcyclist injured:
On Saturday, Aug, 11 at approximately 12:51 P.M., there was a collision near the intersection of Armour Road and Douro Street involving a motorcycle and a car. Both were westbound on Douro Street. The motorcycle attempted to pass the car, on the left, near the intersection of Douro and Armour. The car attempted to turn south on Armour and was struck in the front left corner by the motorcycle. The 33-year-old male operating the motorcycle suffered a sore hand and foot and was taken to PRHC by ambulance for his injuries, treated and released. The operator of the motorcycle was charged with Careless Driving. There was approximately $9,500 in damage to both vehicles.
Phone scam
2) On July 25 at approximately 12:30 P.M., a 95-year-old female received a phone call from a male identifying himself as a bank manager. He advised the female that there had been a mistake with her account and he was investigating it. He advised the female to attend her bank and withdraw a large sum of money and place it in an envelope and return home with the funds and that someone from the bank would attend her residence to retrieve the funds. The female became suspicious of this scheme and ended the call. The complainant contacted police to document this incident.
