  • Better Safe Than Sorry....

Yes many parents will tell you it's inevitable, "childhood mishaps or oopsies" which eventually lead to a visit to the local Hospital Emergency Room. I can honestly say we've been fortunate enough not to frequent the endless waiting at an Emergency Room, but I credit both my friends and cousins who are nurses and my medical hotline for "what should I do?" questions. But recently, after advisement from our family doctor I had to give in and truck my 2 kids (one was still at daycare) to the Emergency Room. My oldest child, Rosa is in grade 1 and ...

  • The Anxiety of Separation....

So I was wrong. Yes, a few blogs back I wrote of the trials and tribulations of my 3 yr old son Giorgio, adjusting to daycare. I thought he was bored at the new sitter (we moved) because there was only he and another 2 year old boy. Giorgio likes "big" kids so I pulled him out and put him into a nursery school. Well turns out Giorgio wasn't bored, he has a wicked case of separation anxiety. It starts the night before, "Mom do I have daycare tomorrow?" He will ask with a hint of fear in his ...

  • Recalled Toys and Baby Products..."Fisher Priceless"

Rarely am I still awake at 10 pm, but Thursday's are Grey's Anatomy nights so I flipped to The National after GA to check out the news. I was quickly worried and shocked to hear the lead story of perhaps the largest baby product recall in history. FisherPrice has recalled millions of its toys and products. At first I thought.."ahhh there are countless FP products strewn throughout our house". But then as the story continued and the lady explained that one of the high chairs had been recalled because of protruding pegs, I thought, "oh, here we go again with ...

  • You Want It All?.....You Got It

I recently did an interview with two stay at home moms about all day every day kindergarten, when I sat down to speak with them, one of my first questions was "do you work outside of the home?" Both quickly replied "NO! Are you kidding, I don't know how you do it?" I thought to myself, "neither do I", but I also remember being home all day, every day, and I say to all of you stay at home moms "how do YOU do it?' Really there's no winning here, bottom line: it's tough being a mom. Raising kids, making ...

  • As the world turns, these are the days of my life...

Oh back to work......such a bittersweet feeling. I love my job and honestly the first few hours back, I thought to myself:  "wow, I haven't had so much time to myself in a LONG time". Work is almost easier, okay who am I kidding, it is easier than being at home with 3 kids. So far the transition has been rocky for my 3 year old. I found a new sitter (because we moved) and I LOVE her she is wonderful (she has some spots if you or someone you know is looking), but Giorgio is BORED. Drop off is ...

  • Not in Vain....

Working in a newsroom is both riveting and sometimes mentally exhausting. We reporters see a lot of tragedy, and I can honestly say most of us are pretty good at presenting the facts while putting aside our emotions. But once in a while a story comes along that hits you, the one you can't shake when you lie down at night. For me, Avery Pringle was one of those stories. The four year old drowned in the Otonabee River July 15th 2010 and thanks to the hard work of our Emergency Services team in Peterborough, his body was ...

  • Age and Stage...

So here we are, livin' life at 200 miles per hour. Rosa is 6, Giorgio 3 1/2 and Marcello 9 months. We recently moved from the city to the country and couldn't be happier, it is the perfect place to raise kids. We are still living our city life until the end of the school year which is located 30 minutes from our new home, no big deal really just a lot of driving for the interim, and as we know the tween and teenage years have plenty more of that in store. So right now, Rosa, the socialite is ...

  • "I Love Boobies and NOTHING Else"...

At least that's my interpretation of what Marcello would say if he could. Yes, my baby is nearly 8 months old and has zero interest in a bottle. The research I've done to date about babies who will not take a bottle varies from trying different nipples and bottles to having a stand off with your baby until he takes it, even if it means missing a few feedings. Since I can't stomach the latter and the first doesn't seem to make any difference I guess I am stuck breast feeding until my baby boy no longer needs milk (NO ...

  • 3 Kids and a Trip to Cuba....

It's 1 am, my husband and I have been tossing and turning since 8:30, "the plan" to get to bed early went well, the sleeping part, not so much. "Rosa it's time to go to the airport honey", and like a bat out of hell, Rosa is up and at 'em, brushing her teeth with a little sway in her sleepy stance! Giorgio is at the door talking a mile a minute itching to board the plane with his Lightning McQueen suitcase while baby Marcello decides to have a little late night snack. Loaded up, passports in hand, Cuba here ...

  • Child Star.....

Okay in the making! Yes I am in the television industry, but it's all thanks to my husband who got me hooked on it. He is a film genius and I love it, so do our kids, well most of them. Rosa has starred in a few of his films, and is showing definite signs of becoming a director herself! Of course all three kidlets have their ongoing starring roles in the family videos, but now it is time for the latest Ferreri, our baby Marcello, at 6 months old to make his debut. It is the Dorito's "Name the ...
